Day 14/30 – Walking 4 Miles Every Day Challenge
Notes from day 14:
Today was definitely the day when I thought about breaking my streak.
We had activities planned from morning till night. Getting my 4 miles and did not just happen naturally. When we went to dinner at a friend’s house I was pacing their living room to get additional steps in. 😂 Then I got home and my husband and son went to sleep around 10 PM. I went out to continue walking for 40 minutes in order to get to the 4 mile mark. Holy moly.
Walking around my neighborhood at night definitely gives me a different perspective. It is relatively safe, but I would never take that for granted. At 10 PM most people are watching TV or totally asleep… is what it seems like from the outside. It’s weird insight into peoples lives I don’t usually think about.
I saw some cars waiting overly long outside my neighbors house. I avoided them. They were probably harmless but you just never know.
I head some rustling in the bushes and remembered that we have bears and coyotes in the general area where I live. I need to get a blow horn or a whistle.
I don’t wear headphones when I walk at night just to be fully aware. So I listen to my audiobook quietly through my speaker instead. I also turned on location sharing with my brother in law (because he would be awake at that time) and told him I was out walking.
Overall I really enjoyed my night walk. I wasn’t comfortable or relaxed, but it was interesting.
Reflecting on the last 14 days, it feels good to make a plan and execute the plan and keep myself to this habit every day. I could quit or start over, but I am really happy with my progress so far, and I don’t want to let my self down. My walks give me time to think and get my attention out of my head and I really want to continue to do them daily. 😊
