Best Friends

I don’t have just one best friend. I consider the term “best friend” to signify a tier, not a single person.

I haven’t had just one best friend since… possibly my whole life. I can remember in grade school I had two best friends and we were all three besties and it was amazing. Then when I was in high school I had 4 best friends.

Now, I have quite a few.

I have Seattle besties and Clearwater besties and international besties. I have besties I don’t talk to very often, and I have some I talk to nearly every day. I have church besties and crunchy besties.

I used to feel like I was missing something or deficient because I didn’t have one lifetime friend I had had forever. Or people who I had been super close with since early childhood.

But the truth is, I am really wealthy in friends and I have many people who I am very fond of.

And that is just the right amount of friends for me.
