Ok, lets jump into the book.
Here are some things I have learned about Nike.
The name Nike came to someone in a dream. The swoosh was something that they all felt iffy about. They paid a designer about $35 for the design.
The business was selling 1.2 million dollars worth of shoes at one point and got overdrawn at it’s bank and couldn’t pay their staff. The bank kicked them out and they had to scramble to locate another one that would work for them. Can you imagine kicking NIKE out of your bank?!
I learned about myself, while reading this book, that maybe I am not an entrepreneur. The trials and tribulations that the founders went through were INTENSE. Somehow they kept moving forward despite all the reasons not to.
At one point the founder of Nike thought he was going to be arrested by the FBI for fraud because the bank reported him because it looked like his transactions were fraudulent. He looked up the laws to make sure his family would get to keep their home if he ended up in prison.
The book is amazing and makes me respect the company a lot more. Nike isn’t about shoes and shirts. Nike was founded by runners and coaches who believed that the best parts of humanity are found in sports.
I am not into sports. But I found the book to be really inspiring.
At the end of the book, the author tells about a family tragedy that really touched me. The story haunted me for days after I finished the book.
Overall I would give it 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you like biographies and studying about successful people and business, you should read this book (Or Listen to the audiobook like I did).
