Walking For Health: Physical and Mental Benefits
I am on day 29 of my challenge to walk 4 miles every day for 30 days.
One thing I cannot stress enough is just how well I feel physically and mentally just from doing this practice for nearly a month. Physically, there were a few days when I had some aches and pains but those resolved quickly. I feel stronger and I am more confident in my body and being able to walk any distance.
After my family had covid we were dealing with some brain fog, inflammation, and other lingering symptoms that just wouldn’t go away. These symptoms resolved and I feel even better now than I did before covid.
I also have multiple new work opportunities that have come to me in the last month after feeling like I needed a major change.
If you are feeling the need to change things up and improve yourself mentally or physically, consider walking outside for an hour a day for 30 days. If nothing else, it may help with blood pressure, muscle tone, and the fatigue of staring at screens all day.
“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: every day I walk myself into a state of well being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.”
― Søren Kierkegaard
